Summer Camp 2008

6 - 1/2 boys on the final day in camp. Needless to say, it was time to come home.

A first thing in the morning picture of Big T looking and feeling like he'd been ridden hard and put up wet.

Sterling looking for his canoe.

Indiana Nick.

Service project for Environmental Science Merit Badge. It was more or less a lot of boys wandering on the hillside with shovels.

Heads in the sand.

Watching the sunset over Bear Lake.

Night time in the shelter enjoying some of Ron's cobbler.

Our friend and fearles leader - Brother Ron Atkinson.

Father and Son.

Intently hamming, er, listening.

Grand Gulch Goodness

A small contingent of our ward ventured down to a beautiful corner of our fair state. Natural Bridges National Monument and the surrounding area were home for our 3 day advernture. Our band consisted of Rey and Jordan Urrutia, Phil Berry, Paul Durham (Heidi's father and good sport), Val Johnson (former member of the 3rd ward), Blaine and Parker Awerkamp, Scott and Andrew Olsen our fearless leaders.

A prehistoric pantry - Corn Grainary of the Ancestral Puebloans - they must have read the provident living pamphlet and taken it to heart.

Brother Blaine Awerkamp at the Horse Collar Ruin site. We had a hard time getting him unbridled for the photo.

Brother Rey taking a break between adventures.

Brother Val Johnson playing Cowboys and Indians with his DSLR Canon.

Heidi's father Paul adjacent to some thousand-year old vandalism. Glad their moms didn't have magic erasers back then.

Horsemanship with Roger Ward

Brother Roger Ward was gracious enough to give us a night of training on how to handle mules. We brushed, saddled, cleaned hooves, then of course mucked stalls. This is a 3 part Merit Badge, so we're looking forward to some more great activities and pictures.

Thanks again Roger!
